Josephine FAQ

Josephine is an AI wedding photo app made by rimikimi studios. Turn one selfie into AI wedding photos — or two photos for a couple portrait.

What is Josephine?

Josephine is an AI wedding photo app made by rimikimi studios. Upload a selfie, choose a dress and a scene, and Josephine's AI creates AI wedding photos of you (some scenes, batch creation and trying on your own dress photo are paid features), with no studio booking or shoot day needed. The results are AI-generated images, not real photographs. Josephine has no connection to Empress Joséphine, Napoleon's wife, or to anyone else of the same name.

Do I only need one photo?

Yes, for bride or groom photos, one clear, front-facing photo of your face is enough to start. For couple photos you also need one of your partner. Your face profile can hold up to three photos: the required front-facing shot plus optional left and right 45-degree angles.

Does Josephine work on Android?

Yes. Josephine is available on both iOS and Android, and it is free to download from the App Store and Google Play. You can also try it on the web at josephine.rimikimi.com.

How many photos can I make for free?

Every Josephine account gets 2 free photos, which include a watermark. You also get 3 credits for each friend you invite. Free accounts can use the Suede curtain studio, Paris and all 59 scene presets; other individual scenes, multi-photo batches (3, 6 or 12 photos at once) and trying on a photo of your own dress need purchased credits.

Do I have to subscribe?

No. Subscriptions in Josephine are optional. You can buy credit packs one at a time whenever you need them, or, if you make photos often, choose a weekly, monthly or annual subscription. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel, and you can cancel in your App Store or Google Play account settings.

How much does Josephine cost?

Josephine is free to install, and your first 2 photos are free (watermarked; paid-only scenes, multi-photo batches and trying on your own dress photo are not included). After that, you can buy credit packs one at a time or choose a weekly, monthly or annual subscription. Prices vary by store and country. In the iOS and Android apps, a free photo may be followed by an ad; photos made with credits or a subscription are not.

Will the dress in my photo match the dress I picked?

When you pick a preset dress, Josephine creates the photo based on that dress. There are 160 preset dresses, 80 for the ceremony and 80 for the reception, each shown from the front and back, in silhouettes such as A-line, ball gown, mermaid, sheath, trumpet, empire and princess. Because every result is AI-generated, treat it as a preview rather than an exact replica. Trying on a photo of your own dress is a paid feature (available when you have credits): upload a picture of a dress and Josephine creates an AI preview of you in it, which is likewise not an exact replica.

Can I make couple photos?

Yes. Josephine has bride, groom and couple modes. In couple mode you upload a photo of each person and Josephine creates a wedding photo of the two of you together. Before you continue, Josephine asks you to confirm that your partner has agreed to their photo being used.

Where are my face photos stored?

Josephine saves your face profile photos only on your device. They are sent to Josephine's servers only while a photo is being created, and are not kept there. If you reinstall the app, your face profile is deleted and you will need to set it up again.

How long are my photos kept?

Photos you create in Josephine are deleted automatically after 1 hour. Save the ones you like to your phone's gallery before then.

Are Josephine's photos labeled as AI-generated?

Yes, in the file's metadata. Every photo Josephine creates is an AI-generated image, not a real photograph, and the file's metadata (EXIF) records that it was generated by AI, along with its source. If a result looks inappropriate, you can report it from inside the app.

Does Josephine retouch blemishes and moles?

By default, Josephine cleans up blemishes and moles the way a retouched wedding photoshoot would, while keeping your face shape and features as they are. If you would rather keep your moles, you can turn the Retouch skin option off when you set up your face profile.
